About Imelda

Imelda White is a highly experienced classical pianist, qualified piano teacher and composer based in St. Ives, Sydney’s Upper North Shore. Her family were not musical but she always knew that music was and is her true calling in life since early age. One of her uncles had already purchased an old, upright piano which was left untouched for many years until one day she decided to feel the keys under her fingers. Imelda started learning to play at the age of three and her mother sent her to a local piano school which followed the Yamaha system. She passed her grades incredibly fast, scoring excellent marks and winning local competitions. Imelda’s musical training continued throughout high school where she became heavily involved in the music programme e.g. concert choir, jazz band as well as solo competitions in various eisteddfods (winning awards and Honourable Mentions). She was awarded her school’s Music Award at her year 12 graduation. She separately received a music scholarship whilst studying at the WAAPA (WA Academy of Performing Arts in Perth). Imelda holds an Associate Diploma of Music Teaching (Honours) and Licentiate Diploma of Pianoforte Performance (Honours). Imelda enjoys working with students of all backgrounds and levels.
